Airport Emergency Planning

Longreach Airport has developed an Aerodrome Emergency Response (AER) in accordance with Civil Aviation Regulation 139.100, the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (CASR), and the guidance outlined in MOS Part 139 – Aerodromes.

The AER supports coordinated response and recovery arrangements for emergencies on, or in the vicinity of Longreach Airport.

Aerodrome Emergency Plan (AEP)

The AER is a stand-alone document for Longreach Airport. It outlines the operational and tactical response to an emergency, including the responsibilities of Longreach Airport Pty Ltd, emergency services and supporting agencies.

The plan meets the following objectives:

  • Provide a timely and coordinated response to an emergency at Longreach Airport
  • Describe control and coordination arrangements during an emergency
  • Clarify the roles and responsibilities of all agencies involved in a response
  • Outline activation and alerting procedures for relevant agencies
  • Identify the emergency facilities that may be established, including the Forward Command Post, Emergency Operations Centre, Casualty Processing Area, Passenger Reception Centre and Relative Reception Centre
  • Describe the arrangements for reviewing, testing, exercising and maintaining the AER
Meet the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (CASR) and MOS Part 139
  • Integrate with the Longreach Regional Council Local Disaster Management Plan to ensure a coordinated community response.
